HOW TO GET TO BLAIRSVILLE, GEORGIA and to the Brusseau Cabin

From I-75

Take exit 20 from I-75. Take 64 East to Murphy, NC. Take 129S to Blairsville, GA. Follow 129S and cross 76. Go straight past Burger King and McDonalds towards the BiLo. Turn LEFT here and continue on 19/129S. You will see the town square (old red courthouse) ahead of you. Turn RIGHT at Chevron staying on 19/129S. Go approx. 3 miles. You will see a BP station on the left. Slow down and prepare to turn RIGHT onto Lower Owltown Road just past the BP. Go approx. 2.7 miles until the road ends. Turn RIGHT onto Owltown Road. Go approx. .7 miles. Turn LEFT onto Fortenberry Road. Go approx. .8 miles. Turn LEFT onto Flat Rock Gap Road. The cabin is approx. .6 miles from here. This is a winding, uphill paved road. You will pass a sign for Moon Shadow on the left. Shortly past this on the right is the driveway to our cabin. It is marked by 2 red reflectors and there is a sign on a tree. Enter here. Welcome!!

Choice of 2 routes from Atlanta

1. Through Blue Ridge
This is the easier drive. It is a little longer in distance and not quite as scenic, but it is four-lane all the way to Blairsville.
Follow 75N through Atlanta. Take 575N and stay on it until it ends. Take 5N. In Ellijay, 5N and 76E merge. Take 5N/76E to Blue Ridge. Go straight through Blue Ridge and stay on 76E. Blairsville is approx. 22 miles. As you enter Blairsville, look for McDonald’s and Burger King. Turn RIGHT at that light onto 19/129S. Turn LEFT at Circle K. Continue on 19/129S. You will see the town square (old red courthouse) ahead of you. Turn RIGHT at Chevron staying on 19/129S. Go approx. 3 miles. You will see a BP station on the left. Slow down and prepare to turn RIGHT onto Lower Owltown Road just past the BP. Go approx. 2.7 miles until the road ends. Turn RIGHT onto Owltown Road. Go approx. .7 miles. Turn LEFT onto Fortenberry Road. Go approx. .8 miles. Turn LEFT onto Flat Rock Gap Road. The cabin is approx. .6 miles from here. This is a winding, uphill paved road. 2. Through Dahlonega
This is the more scenic drive. It is a little shorter but takes longer. The route is all paved 2-lane winding mountain roads. Take the bypass east around Atlanta. Take exit 19 onto 19N. (yes, it is the same US 19) Follow 19N all the way to Dahlonega. In Dahlonega you will pass a WalMArt SuperCenter. From here it is about 35 miles to the cabin. Follow signs to Blairsville staying on 19N. In about 8 miles, 19N will turn RIGHT. Go another 8 miles and 19N will join 129. Turn LEFT here and proceed on 19/129N. Go approx. 15 miles. When you see a BP station on the left, slow down and prepare to turn. Turn LEFT onto Owltown Spur. (there is an office on this corner for Brasstown View Chalets) Go approx. 3.2 miles. Turn LEFT onto Fortenberry Road. Go approx. .8 miles. Turn LEFT onto Flat Rock Gap Road. The cabin is approx. .6 miles from here. This is a winding, uphill paved road. You will pass a sign for Moon Shadow on the left. Shortly past this on the right is the driveway to our cabin. It is marked by 2 red reflectors and there is a sign on a tree. Enter here. Welcome!!
